One of the most important Product EQ skills to understand and develop is Empathy. Not just empathy for your customers, but for your team, co-workers, stakeholders, etc. Working on your own empathy can create massive positive change. https://bit.ly/2Rm2eP1

Let's take a look at some of the limiting beliefs...or excuses that some managers give when it comes to managing and giving feedback. Let's look at the old classic: Time. Managers will often say that they don't have time to give feedback, but honestly, good feedback can be delivered in just two to three minutes between meetings. No need to wait until your next one-on-one or schedule a dedicated coffee chat. Instead, end your meetings a few minutes early to allow time in between meetings for feedback to the group or an individual. Read more on the topic in my recent blog, link in the comments. 💬

I am excited to be running my new hands-on masterclass, Essential Coaching Skills for Product Leaders, a 2-hour session focusing on answering these three questions: - What is coaching? (And what isn't it!?) - How can a coaching approach change your leadership style? - What is it about asking open-ended questions that make all the difference? This course is aimed at teaching people the fundamentals of coaching, how to upgrade their communication skills, break out of the 'jumping to solutions' habit, and adopt a fresh approach to team development. I received great feedback from my other sessions about catering to different time zones, which is why I'll be offering two different sessions. Both will be held on May 22nd but there will also be one that is US time-zone friendly and the second for those in UK/EU time zones. I've added a link in the comments to both time-zone options and for more information. But if you have any questions in the meantime, don't hesitate to get in touch. #productleadership #coachingskills

Thought of the week: Feeling uncertain isn't inherently negative. It's a sign that we're pushing our boundaries, stepping out of our comfort zones, and growing. The real challenge lies in not letting these feelings trap us in a cycle of self-doubt and stagnation. In the book, Connected: Building Exceptional Relationships with Family, Friends and Colleagues, Carol Robin and David Bradford, talk about stepping from the Zone of Comfort into the Zone of Learning by applying the 15% Rule. It advocates building an experiment that will stretch you from your comfort zone in a way that won't result in disaster, but will give you enough evidence to know how you can iterate and step out another 15%. #comfortzone #15%rule #productleadership

Thought of the week: Micromanaging really isn't the healthiest option for you or your team. As a leader, it’s important to create space and structure to help your team develop their own norms and identity. But don't forget, these can change depending on your team’s stage of development too.
